 Home sizes or living area can be confusing to a home buyer, therefore we believe it is important for you to know how we establish living area.
We consider living area the same as heated area. Living area is described by Square Footage. What is or is not included in the Square Footage is important for you to know when buying one of our new homes.
Builders may calculate Square Footage differently. This is how we do it:
- Living area is computed by the architect who prepares our house plans.
- Living area is measured from the outside wall surface of the heated area and includes all interior walls within the heated area.
- Square Footage of the garage is based on the area of the slab.
The following areas are not considered living area in our calculations:
- Area above the stairs to the loft where applicable
- Area above 8 and 9 feet in the case of a high ceiling or foyer
- Basement area where applicable
- Garage or Porch area
